Los Angeles Arboretum | San Gabriel Hilton | Wedding Photographer

This wedding took place at 2 of my favorite venues.  The 1st was the Los Angeles Arboretum and the 2nd was the San Gabriel Hilton.  I just love how many different looks I can get everytime I’m photography either an engagement session or wedding at the Arboretum in Arcadia next to the newly remodeled Westfield Santa Anita Mall.  Also, the San Gabriel Hilton has so many little gems for getting awesome photographs it’s ridiculous!  On top of all of that, Daniel and Mouy are like all my other awesome clients….they TRUST me to do do my job and gives me so much freedom to do what I do best!  I also had the pleasure of having an awesomely-super-over-qualified 2nd photographer, Mr. Doug McNamee of DMC Studio so this is almost like a dream wedding for me :)

I currently am using an image from this wedding as my facebook fan page’s profile picture.  Love it!

Redondo Beach Historic Library | Los Angeles Wedding Photography | Jen & Leo

Redondo Beach Historic Library is an amazing location.  I always enjoy photographing weddings at venues that are close to the beach and the Historic Library in Redondo Beach was no exception!  Jen and Leo has had friends that I was the wedding photographer for and also we are all from the same high school…(GO Temple City Rams!) so they were completely trusting of my style of photography and let me do my thing!  I had an absolute blast shooting this wedding and I had the pleasure of doing it with the amazing Doug McNamee of DMC Studio and also my partner (yeah, not that kind….) in our “TiltnShift” photography workshops.  I just LOVE IT whenever I get the opportunity to photograph a wedding with a fellow photographer because we always feed off of each other’s creativity and the end result is visible in the images!

Pasadena Westin & Museum of California Art | Wedding Photography | Daphne & Kent

Our next wedding adventure brings us to Pasadena. We were all over Pasadena! We were at the Westin Hotel, the Pasadena Museum of California Art, charming Old Town Pasadena, and even Pasadena City Hall! This was Daphne and Kent’s big day. These two may look familiar to some of you because I also took their engagement pictures. Also on a side-note, Daphne and my wife were friends from high school! I was lucky to have had the pleasure of being their wedding photographer.

To start off the day, Daphne and Kent got ready at the Westin located in Downtown Pasadena. Here we met up with the amazing videographer Yaz Kim from WHSY Enterntainment (check out some of his work, after the break). Assisted with my second shooter, Kalen, we photographed the happy couple getting ready for their ceremony. After everyone was prepped and ready to go, we headed over to the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Some parts and angles of this place may also look familiar because this is where they had their engagement session! Daphne and Kent had their wedding inside an art museum! How cool is that?! They only invited their family and closest friends. After their ceremony, we took some pictures of the bride and groom with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. After an hour or so of shooting at the PMCA, we brought the cute newlyweds to Old Town Pasadena. We got some photos of Daphne and Kent with the charming town in the background. Their reception was held at the charming Rococo Room at the Cafe Santorini. The reception was a blast. Everyone was having fun. There was dancing and fun games to keep the guests entertained. We captured the fun moments the couple had during their awesome reception. After the reception was over we headed to the historic Pasadena City Hall. We got some AWESOME night shots.

Daphne and Kent’s wedding was a blast. Thanks Daphne and Kent for allowing me to photograph your important day. I had so much fun!

Workshop / Shootout Fall Schedule | @TiltnShift

We at www.TiltnShift.com (the educational side of Henry Wang Photography) are very excited to share what we have planned for you for the upcoming months so far. We have a wide spectrum of events planned and will cater to photographers at all stages of their artistic careers. There are 2 meet-ups that will help those who are thinking about beginning their wedding photography careers. We also have a shootout planned for those who want to build up their portfolios with some good looking couples in full on wedding attire (not a $50 dress from goodwill…) and professionally done hair and makeup! Also, for the shootout, we will be giving you the opportunity to shoot both in the studio as well as an outdoor location. Next, we will be hosting our 1st all day bootcamp/workshop that will cover how to utilize your on-camera speedlights to create artistic lighting and avoid that hated direct-flash look that most people get with those lights and we’ll have live models on hand to teach you how to get the most out of how much time the bride and groom gives you for their portraits or just how to maximize your surroundings to get shots that will SELL! Finally, due to popular demand, we are going to be having a boudoir portfolio shoot (very limited spaces) at Henry’s studios in Temple City with 2 models with multiple background/set changes and different lighting styles for different looks.

But what we are super excited to share with all of you is the opportunity to put all of that skill and practice to use in a REAL wedding! You’ll get the opportunity to shoot along side 2 experienced photographers. We wanted to provide a well rounded experience for all the attendees of this REAL wedding shoot so we will also include a pre-wedding prep session as well as a post-wedding critique. This is a rare opportunity to be able to get an all-around experience that will take your photographic skill to the next level.

Long Beach Queen Mary | Wedding Photography | Workshop!

For some of you who follows my blog (THANK YOU!!!) know that my brother from another mother, Doug McNamee and I have been hosting workshops, shooting sessions/shootouts, and portfolio reviews for photographers looking to advance their photographic skills under the TiltnShift.com brand.  We’ve previously hosted Bride and Groom Posing Workshops, Advance On-Camera Flash bouncing and usage workshops, Vintage Boudoir Sessions, and numerous shooting sessions at Union Station, Santa Fe Dam, San Gabriel Mission, and upcoming Santa Monica!  But one thing that we hear from our event attendees are that they would learn so much more/better if they could tag along to shoot with us at an actual wedding.  Well, you asked and we listened!
